Macau

Macau has returned to China since December 20, 1999. However, many people's knowledge on the image of Macau is only as a oriental city under 400-year of Portuguese rule, and only on gambling. They neglect Macau having the political status of the second "Special Administrative Region" of China, the economic status of second "free port" in China, the cultural status as the famous oriental city with several hundred of years of Eastern and Western cultural exchange; being a member of international city, the only famous gambling city in Asia, tourist status as having European style, the early special economic region in China, the history of the bridge of Eastern and Western cultural exchange, trading and transportation center for Eastern and Western goods, historical status as the "fifth little dragon" in Asia. Furthermore, people neglect Macau as the heart of Asia and part of China, but she can be prevented from destruction during the two World Wars, 30 years of civil wars, and the tragedy of the Cultural Revolution, as well as her building for the international society on the coexistence of different kinds of culture, system, ethnic groups, and religion.

Macau has traditional village feeling, as well as the modernized city with motion and prosperity; she has rich Chinese culture as well as European style which can be seen in everywhere.

After the handover to the Mainland and entering the new century, Macau has exceeded the space limitation and psychological obstacle formed under a small place, and plans her development in higher and wider eye view in order to create new prosperity.
